"Hosting a visitor from Pakistan was a rewarding experience. I learnt so much about her culture and it was a great opportunity to share our knowledge and experiences. It was a privilege to be able to help benefit the healthcare of another country without even leaving my own home!" CUH Nurse

How you can help

Fundraising cricket eventWe welcome your support – and you don't have to go overseas to help. Volunteers in the UK make a positive difference by:

  • providing administrative support in our office or from home
  • fundraising
  • hosting overseas visitors

Benefits of volunteering with Addenbrooke’s Abroad

"Volunteering in the Addenbrooke’s Abroad office has been really stimulating. I’m learning about overseas development issues and how the NHS works, as well as improving existing skills – all adds to the CV!" Rebecca Bazeley, Communication Volunteer

Getting involved in Addenbrooke's Abroad means being part of an increasingly significant initiative in global healthcare. As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop new skills
  • Make new friends
  • Belong to an extensive network of volunteers via ACT – the independent charity for Cambridge University Hospitals

By offering a coordinated system of support to staff and students – from those just thinking about volunteering overseas to those already back from a placement – together we can increase the benefits to healthcare services at home and abroad.
