Ben Nevis climb
16/17 September 2008
Raising money for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in memory of David Mein
David Mein, died on PICU in 1997, at the age of 14. The previous week he had been on Scout camp and part of the activities was climbing Ben Nevis. David was a popular young man and since his death family, friends and various organisations have supported PICU in his memory. Recently the unit was contacted by a fellow scout, Ian Rawlings, who is about to make that Ben Nevis climb again, this time with David in his thoughts and raising funds for the unit. The event is taking place during the weekend of 16th/17th September 2008.
Ian Rawlings said: "There will be a group of employees from Media Ten Ltd trying to complete the three highest peaks in the UK (Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Mount Snowdon) in under 24 hours (including travelling between them) for charity this summer.
"This is going to be a relatively emotional trip for me as the last time I was on top of Ben Nevis, 11 years ago, I was with my friend and scout, David Mein, who unfortunately died a few days later due to a very severe and sudden brain haemorrhage.
"His family have given me permission to raise money for the Addenbrooke’s PICU which was where David was admitted. David’s family and friends have raised money for this very good cause before and I would love to be able to continue this trend.
Please support me as much as you can.
My kindest thanks”
