Portable CT Scanner for Neurosciences
£254,000 is needed for a state-of-the-art CereTom portable CT scanner.
"It will allow head scans to be performed by the bedside, saving time and reducing the hazards of taking very sick patients to a static facility. It is urgently required." Mr Kirkpatrick, Consultant Neurosurgeon.

Evaluation of new TomoTherapy machine for the Department of Health
£200,000 is required to undertake an evaluation of the new TomoTherapy machine at Addenbrooke's. TomoTherapy is an innovative form of radiotherapy, revolutionary for its potential to focus radiotherapy to a tumour without damaging any surrounding healthy tissue. The new TomoTherapy machine is the first to be installed in an NHS hospital. Evaluating the technology is likely to influence practice, and therefore to benefit cancer patients, both nationally and internationally over the next decade.
