In 2009 fundraiser, Charlie Pitcher, will be the first man to run the Marathon des Sables and row solo across the Atlantic in one year – and all for the Renal Unit at Addenbrooke's!

The Marathon des Sables is the annual 150 mile trek across the Sahara Desert, which will take place from 29 March - 4 April 2009. The trek takes six days and Charlie will be undertaking the challenge as part of a year of fundraising activity in memory of his friend Sean McLeod-Jones, who was a kidney dialysis patient at Addenbrooke's for 13 years until he sadly died in May 2003.
