Join Twiggy in supporting Pink Rose Appeal

Actress and model, Twiggy, and Cambridge-born actress Rebecca Mader, are supporting Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust’s Pink Rose appeal to raise funds for the Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

The Pink Rose appeal invites people to have a fantastic time with family and friends by hosting their own special dinner, lunch or drinks party and asking their guests to ‘pay for their supper’ by making a donation to the appeal.

Events can be big or small – some people host intimate dinners in their own homes, others at community halls and others can be themed such as a recent ‘Turkish Delight’ event or a ‘three generations’ event, which saw mothers, daughters and granddaughters from the local community get together.

People are encouraged to host their events in October – breast cancer awareness month – or at a time convenient to them.

Over recent years hundreds of people from across the Eastern Region have taken part in the Pink Rose appeal to raise over £300,000 towards building and equipping the Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit, and to support the Unit’s on-going breast cancer research programme.

Research projects currently undertaken at the Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit will result in improvements into patient management within the next five years.

This year we hope to raise £50,000 to support the 40,000 British women who are diagnosed with breast cancer annually.
