sound of music and New Year Reception
Saturday 5th January 2008
Sound of Music
West End producer David Ian, generously allocated a limited number of top tickets for the matinee performance of The Sound of Music at the London Palladium to Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT), to be sold in aid of Children's Services.
Those who bought tickets through ACT enjoyed an excellent show and afterwards they were treated to an exclusive question and answer session with Connie Fisher, who stars as Maria, joined on stage by actors playing the Von Trapp children and Captain Von Trapp! Dr Rob Ross Russell, Consultant Paediatrician, also took to the stage to ask Connie pre-selected questions from members of the audience. Connie was presented with a lovely bouquet and the Von Trapp children actors each received an Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust teddy bear to say thank you for their co-operation in the event.
New Year Champagne Reception and Buffet Supper
The evening was rounded off with a champagne reception and buffet supper courtesy of Lord and Lady Archer at their London penthouse apartment overlooking the Thames. The champagne was flowing, the views were spectacular and the event was enjoyed by all.
The day was very successful. Money raised through sales of tickets for both events raised over £15,000 in aid of a major development of Children’s Services at Addenbrooke’s.
